Helter Skelter

Helter Skelter 1

Helter Skelter has evolved to mean several things since my first recollection of it.

  • In the sixties, The Beatles put a song on The White Album named Helter Skelter that begins with these lyrics:

“When I get to the bottom, I go
back to the top of the side,
Where I stop and I turn,
and I go for a ride,
Till I get to the bottom
and I see you again.”

  • What do these lyrics describe? How about an amusement park ride? They were recalling a rollercoaster-like ride that I'm quite certain they had ridden many times as children from Liverpool, England.
  • Manson's interpretation to his followers took on an entirely different meaning. He viewed it to be a society in total chaos during a black and white race war. He and his clan would ride through Devils Canyon in dune buggies escaping to the desert. Thus, the meaning came to mean chaos, complete disorder and confusion too many.
  • The late Vincent Bugliosi, who prosecuted the Manson murders, wrote a book named Helter Skelter. He laid out Manson's philosophy. Overall, I agree with 85% of what is written in his book, although much of his research was a total surprise to me.
  • Helter Skelter 1 is a chapter in my book Will You Die For Me? It can be read on this site free of charge.

Helter Skelter 2

This is another chapter in my first book describing the crime, which I deeply regret. These writings are first-hand accounts. Also, my second book Charles Watson Speaks Out! unveils fresh, new insight into the 1969 madness. The love of a merciful Heavenly Father is revealed, Who rescued me out of my rebellion.

The storyline is similar to the parable of the prodigal son. I left my parents in Texas against their wishes. I took all my possessions to California in search of fulfillment. I enrolled in college, got a job and tried to fill the void in my heart with drugs and rock and roll. I quickly hit bottom, dropped out of college and ended up shoveling manure at a run-down movie ranch along with a couple of dozen other mischievous souls, later named the “Manson Family.”

I was too proud to return to my family a failure. Instead, I committed my life to the beliefs of an ex-convict named Charles Manson. In my blindness, I chose to believe a lie and commit murder for approval and acceptance. Only then did I return to my family, a murderer, depressed and an angry young man.

Afterwards, God in His love began to heal my hardened and unbelieving heart. This website proclaims, “God can heal anyone, no matter how far one has fallen.” I am now reaping what I have sown because of my painful past, but as you'll see, my life testifies that there is good news no matter what!

As you read the testimony, my prayer is that the light of God will shine into your heart to give you the light of the knowledge of the glory of Jesus Christ upon your face (2 Corinthians 4:6). You will never be the same as you receive the miracle of salvation for yourself. And remember, it’s a free gift.
