Our Identity: Spirit, Soul & Body
My latest eBook, Our Identity: Spirit, Soul & Body, isn’t all that new to me. For almost four decades I have continually reminded myself of who I am, what I have, and what I can do in Christ. By faith in God’s grace, I have been able to overcome my past, live in the now and see a glorious future and purpose for my life.2
This eBook has three parts: I wrote Part 1 in 2004. Part 2 was a work for three years in the early 80s, but I’ve taught Spirit, Soul & Body all over three years. Part 3 is a living testimony of how I’ve applied these teachings in my life. Altogether, along with 18 charts, it makes a presentation of our identity in Christ that I believe will be a blessing.
At the end of each chapter, you’ll find confessions of who you are, what you have, and what you can do. These are given so you can remind yourself of your covenant with God. As you do, you’ll be able to project these truths to others so their way will be illuminated as well.
Hold Tightly your Confessions…
It is most important for us to begin each day reminding ourselves of who we are in Christ. That is, who we are in Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. This is explained throughout this website and in my new book.
As you meditate upon and build confidence in Christ, you’ll begin to replace your negative thinking or unbelief with your confession of faith. Confession means “saying the same thing” or saying the same thing that God’s says about you in light of Christ’s finished work -- what he did for us 2000 years ago at the cross, Hisresurrection, and His promise of the Holy Spirit.
Listen to what the apostle Paul wrote about confessing the promise of God:
“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of the ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” 3
Love and Good Works…
Our relationships are determined by how we see ourselves. According to the apostle Paul, we are “… to think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.” When we see ourselves cleansed by the blood of Jesus, risen with Christ, seated in the heavenly places and reigning with Him, you’ll see others as you see yourself and be an encouragement to one another.
Maybe you have not yet believed and received the works of Jesus Christ by faith. It could be that you believe in Salvation by your good works, or in obedience to the Law of Moses. Be assured, Salvation [deliverance, health, soundness, liberation, restoration, rescue and victory] is solely by faith in the finished works of Jesus Christ. As Paul explains:
“For Moses writes that the law’s way of making a person right with God requires obedience to all of its commands. But faith’s way of getting right with God says,’Don’t say in your heart, ‘who will go up to heaven’ (to bring Christ down to earth). And don’t say, ‘who will go down to the place of the dead’ (to bring Christ back to life again).’ In fact, it says,
‘The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your hearts.'”
And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by the believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, ‘Anyone who trust in him will never be disgraced.” Jews and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. For Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved”.4
So if you have not called upon the name of God to be saved, do so before leaving this website by clicking on the link called The Gospel. ‘For God says,
‘At just the right time, I heard you on the day of salvation, I helped you!
Indeed the ‘right time’ is now. Today is the day of salvation.”5
Christ Transforms Us…
When you receive Christ, The Holy Spirit brings to life your spirit. You become a new creature, enabling you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.6 You have been empowered to overcome this evil world through faith in Christ.7
Salvation continues in your soul [mind, will and emotions] as “God transforms you into a new person by changing the way you think.”8 You’ll learn all about this in my new book.
Lastly, you'll begin to see your actions or behaviors change, even your physical health. The apostle John prays, saying:
“Dear friends, I hope all is well with you and that you are a healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.”9
Yes, Christ is being made manifest in your mortal body, but one day, at His return, Paul writes, saying:
“It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet in blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.”10
A Confession For You…
I am crucified, buried and risen with Christ. I am made alive, born-again and joined with Christ in one Spirit, therefore I am a partaker of God’s divine nature. I am seated with Christ in the heavenly places – hidden with Christ in God. I have the gift of righteousness and reign in life one, Jesus Christ. I am being mortified, renewed and sanctified daily, who one day will be glorified with Him. AMEN.
